CEC (Cowes Enterprise College) Cowes, Isle of Wight, United Kingdom.
Saturday to Sunday October 20 to 21, 2018
The UK’s only Destination Comic Con
The Isle of Wight Comic Con in 2017 outgrew it’s original venue in the first year and quickly secured the CEC (Cowes Enterprise College) moving forward. The name change to Island Con, removing the lengthy aforementioned first year name, allowed the marketing war chest to power in to battle.
And power we have! The Isle of Wight is home to numerous world famous music festivals including The Isle of Wight Festival, one of the largest in the UK. The island never had a comic con or convention to match and now we do. Run by Zone Alliance and an incredibly hard working crew, it appears there is no ceiling to where the show can go from here.
Other shows have claimed that they are the biggest in the South of England but factually and statistically Island Con is the biggest in the South. With a projected 8k-10k tickets sold in 2018, there truly is no other show like it on England’s South Coast.
Island Con has gained international recognition with tickets sold as far and wide as South Africa, Malaysia, Singapore and Europe. This is down to our marketing and promotion experts who have embedded themselves in to the Island Con family.
We have managed to grow the show so rapidly because of the community that has built up around the event and the massive support that island and mainland businesses have provided to us.
There are no event politics involved at Island Con, we are unique in that we are not tied to any specific convention boundaries and restrictions. We do what we do, we build our guest lists organically and we focus on our own show to provide the best experience.
Island Con has a massive indie following as we have always shown support and funding for independent film, comic books, art and costume design.
If this is only the second year, just imagine where we’ll be in year three!
